Salt­ed Caramel Frost­ing
3/4 c. sug­ar
3/4 c. heavy cream
2 tsp. pure vanil­la extract
1 c. (2 sticks) plus 2 table­spoons unsalt­ed but­ter at room tem­per­a­ture
1 tsp. Kosher salt
